Why I love the Metabolic Balance® plan and why you will too!

The Metabolic Balance® plan is a unique nutrition program designed to balance your hormones, reduce inflammation and allow the body to naturally achieve healthy weight loss. As a certified practitioner in this method I have taken over 50 patients through the program and am continually impressed with the results they achieve.

We have been conditioned to think that weight loss is all about low calorie diets and punishing exercise regimes. The truth is that our bodies are a bit more complex than a basic machine so the ‘energy in vs energy out’ equation doesn’t really apply. We all absorb and process food differently and this model doesn’t account for these variations.

Inflammation is a known mechanism behind weight gain, as it increases insulin resistance so the energy from our food (glucose) can’t enter our cells as efficiently as it should. This leaves us fatigued, despite the fact that the energy is sitting in our blood - giving us high blood glucose until it’s removed by the liver and stored as fat. Unfortunately, inflammation doesn’t stop there, as it makes us less sensitive to our satiety hormone leptin. This means we are likely to over eat, as we don’t feel ‘full’.

Blood sugar imbalances are very common and are often responsible for the dreaded 3pm energy slump. By supporting the body with the right foods for you, we can improve the body’s sensitivity to insulin, regulate our blood sugar levels and reduce inflammation.

The side effect of this? Weight loss.

But that’s not all. Brain fog, joint pain, insomnia, skin breakouts, some gut symptoms, irritable moods and food cravings often improve in just a few weeks. Many of my patients literally don’t recognise themselves after a month, and would never go back to their previous habits. While results vary, I often see patients lose 10kg over the 3 month program, and keep it off long term.

So how does the program work?

We start with a thorough health history, and a comprehensive blood test. This analysis is used to determine which proteins and minerals are out of balance in the body. A detailed meal plan is then generated which lists your ideal foods, with quantities, combinations and timings. A key component is the 5 coaching sessions over 3 months. I support you at each stage, while holding you accountable to get the best results for you!

Sounds too strict? The first two weeks do require close adherence for optimal results, but the foods are common Australian foods and I work with you to adapt it to your lifestyle, family and other commitments. Supportive nutrition coaching holds you accountable and guides you through your mental blocks. Within weeks, we move away from the stricter phase and start to incorporate a wide range of wholefoods that you can enjoy for the long term. Throughout the process, we will be identifying habits that work - or don’t work - for you, as we build a truly personalised long term way of eating.
